Well friends, here we are, only a few weeks away now from welcoming in the new year! This means a fresh new beginning, not only with our resolutions, but with our home decor trends. In 2016 we saw floods of pastels, copper and marble in every possible way. In the new year, we will see textures, colours and materials from the past all mixed together in a very modern way. What do we mean when we say this? Let’s start with the 2017 Pantone Colour Forecast!

Which colours are we immediately loving? Kale! With Niagra and Hazelnut both tied for second place. Which ones are your favourite? Feel free to check out the full Pantone forecast here.

Evergreen

Say farewell to navy!

This might be our number one favourite trend for 2017, look how dreamy this shade is! Truly the perfect shade paired in a white room, with light furniture and modern clean lines. It even looks amazing paired monochromatically with other shades of green (click through to see!) We’re sure we will be seeing lots of this gorgeous deep tone all over the place, and we cant’ wait!

Jewel Tones

Think Renaissance meets Scandinavia (imagine the possibilities!) This year we see deep purples, blues, greens, and magenta make a giant comeback! Even the materials we are seeing these items produced in are Renaissance feeling – silk curtains, velvet chairs/pillows/ottomans, etc. Whether it’s an accent chair, scattered decor or an entire feature wall – we LOVE these tones mixed in with modern neutrals and clean lines.

Cork

Cork was a huge fad as a flooring texture in past years and it continues to be today! It’s a beautiful texture, affordable and fabulous for sound absorption. For the new year, designers are forecasting entire cork walls – a wicked idea for a home office, teenagers room or studio. Pin your artwork, ideas, inspiration or goals up and change them as many times as you want without marking up the wall! Check out an easy DIY cork wall tutorial right here.

Upholstered Headboards

In the last two years we saw lots of barnwood-DIY-headboard creations (which we admittedly, still love!) But this year, we will see the re-introduction of upholstered headboards. These may be simple in neutral tones or over-the-top in jewel toned velvet and tufted with buttons. Headboards are a great way to make a statement and ground the room at the same time. Have an old hand-me-down headboard from University that you’re dying to replace? Maybe this is the year to make the jump!
